Guidelines for article submission
General considerations
The articles that are submitted must be original and unpublished, and must not have any type of editorial commitment, nor must they be in the process of evaluation or editing simultaneously by another publication or entity.
The same author or group of authors cannot participate with two texts in the same editorial process.
Opinions expressed in the articles are the sole responsibility of the authors.
About Authorship:
Articles should only be submitted for consideration to Ontare Journal once the list of authors includes all those who can legitimately claim authorship. Authors may not be included after the registration of the article in the editorial process.
As for exclusions, although they should not be made, in the event of any exclusion, it should be the same author to be excluded who sends a communication to the journal requesting his or her withdrawal as author of the article, explaining the reasons for the request.
Typology
Articles submitted to Ontare Journal must fall into one of the following categories, taken from the specifications presented by Publindex (Minciencias):
- Scientific and technological research articles: Document that shows original results of a completed research project. The article must have the following structure: introduction, theoretical framework, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions, and references.
- Case report: Document that presents the results of a study on a single subject of analysis, in order to disseminate the technical and methodological experiences considered in a specific case. It should include a literature review on similar cases.
- Short article: Short document that evidences original results, either preliminary or partial, of a scientific or technological research.
- Review article: Document that results from analyzing, systematizing, and integrating the results of published or unpublished completed research on a given topic, in order to account for advances and development trends. It is characterized by a thorough literature review of at least 50 references.

1.1.1.1 Third level subtitle
About figures and tables
A figure is understood as all graphic material used within the article —images, photographs, diagrams, etc.—.
A table is understood as all statistical, numerical, or conceptual comparison information displayed in rows and columns.
Both figures and tables should be numbered consecutively, according to their order of appearance within the text —tables and figures with independent consecutive numbers—; they should have a title that briefly describes their content and the precise reference of the source from which they were obtained. The format for such information should be as follows:
Figure 1. Sistine Chapel
Source. Gombrich, 1950. (If taken from a source)
Source. Prepared by the author(s) (If created by the author/authors)/p>
There should not be an excessive use of these resources, therefore, it is important to include only the figures and tables that are strictly necessary, preferably no more than 5 in each case.
The texts in figures and tables should be perfectly legible, in the same language as the article, and should not use all capital letters.
The size of a figure or table should not exceed one page, taking into account the stipulated margins (Top 2.5 cm, Bottom 2.5 cm, Left 2.5 cm, Right. 2.5 cm.)
About footnotes
Footnotes should be solely of an explanatory nature. All data concerning bibliographical references should be included within the body of the text and recorded in the reference list.
About citation standards n
Ontare Journal uses an adaptation of the American Psychology Association (APA) as a standard for citation and referencing. It is therefore suggested to use the Ean University Citation and Referencing Manual as a specific guide, available at https://editorial.universidadean.edu.co/acceso-abierto/referencia_manual_apa.pdf
All texts and authors mentioned within the body of the text should be recorded in the reference list and all items that are recorded in the reference list should be included within the body of the text. Sources of figures and tables should also be recorded as such, in case they are not self-produced.
The reference list should be located at the end of the document and should be compiled in alphabetical order, by last name. If several publications by the same author are to be referenced, they should be organized in chronological order, by year of publication. When there are several publications by the same author whose publication date is the same year, they should be differentiated as follows:
López, J. (2018a). El significado de la cultura. Bogotá: Editorial 123.
López, J. (2018b). El significado de la gestión cultural. Bogotá: Editorial 123.
In the case of articles in scientific and academic journals, DOI is to be included, when available.
In the case of digital sources, URL should be provided, prior verification of its proper working order.
Below are some examples of the referencing format to be used:

Peer Review Process
Articles submitted to Ontare Journal undergo a complete evaluation process in order to guarantee the quality and scientific rigor of the publication. This entire process is carried out in DOUBLE-BLIND MODALITY and has as general selection criteria: thematic relevance, scientific quality, originality, clarity of argumentation, and compliance with the parameters for submission of articles established by the journal.
This process is described in detail below:
Each article submitted to Ontare Journal is reviewed in a first filter where both compliance with the guidelines for submission of articles and percentage of similarity are verified by using the Ithenticate tool.
Texts that pass this filter enter the first stage of the evaluation process.
Authors of the texts that do not pass this filter are notified immediately.
First evaluation stage - Editor and Editorial Committee
The editor and the Editorial Committee review the articles to verify their compliance with the parameters of typology, structure, and subject matter, in order to select those to be sent to the second stage of evaluation. Each author is notified of the result of this evaluation phase and for those articles that continue to the second stage, adjustments may or may not be requested prior to sending them to peer reviewers.
Second evaluation stage - External Peers
For this stage, external peers are selected based on their knowledge and expertise on the subject matter of the text to be evaluated. This search is performed by using the database of external collaborators of the publication -which is constantly updated- and the database of journal referees from Minciencias. An initial appointment of two peer evaluators is made, but in the event that there is controversy between their verdicts, a third peer is appointed to obtain a final concept.
The evaluation is carried out by following the format of the journal used for this purpose, which is sent to the peers together with the text, the general indications for completion, and the notification of the deadlines for such evaluation.
The two axes around which the evaluation is articulated are the formal structure and the quality of the content, which in turn are divided into a series of items that are rated numerically -from 1 to 5, being 1 the lowest value and 5 the highest-, and that in their final sum yield a score that determines the valuation and the concept regarding the publication of the article, as follows:
100 - 90 - EXCELLENT – Publishable, no adjustments are required.
89 - 80 - VERY GOOD – Publishable, minimal adjustments are required.
79 - 70 - GOOD – Publishable, medium level adjustments are required.
69 - 60 - ACCEPTABLE – Publishable, significant adjustments are required.
59 - 0 - NON-ACCEPTABLE – Non-publishable.
Each author is notified according to the concepts that are issued by the evaluators. The notification includes feedback of the observations and suggestions issued through the evaluation and the request for adjustments, if required, for those articles that have passed this phase. In the latter case, a specific deadline for delivery is determined and subsequently, a verification process of such adjustments by the evaluator..
In the event of any type of controversy, it is the Editor, together with the Editorial Committee, the body that decides the matter and delivers the final verdict.
Estimated time for the evaluation:
In order to guarantee a correct and rigorous evaluation process in each of its phases, the following average times for delivery of verdicts are estimated:
First phase - Editorial Committee: given that this phase is carried out at the end of the call for papers period, once the total number of articles participating in the editorial process has been compiled, and that meetings are scheduled by coordinating the agendas of its members according to their available time, the average response time is approximately 3 months.
Second phase - External peers: taking into account the time for acceptance of invitations to external peers and their availability to carry out the readings, the average time estimated for the verdict in this phase is approximately 3 months.
